Development of the visual arts ecology through advocacy, partnership working and direct artist support.
WEVAA supports the visual arts ecology in the West of England through programming, advocacy and partnership working. The goal of the alliance is to invest in development and increase the visibility and resources for the visual arts community.
Partners have produced research and developed new ways of working. Bath Spa University, Super Culture and Bristol City Council have created roadmaps and plans to support the development of sustainable cultural infrastructure. The University of the West of England has supported the alliance through stewardship and partnership working, and Creative Youth Network have worked collaboratively to create opportunitites for emerging artists.
The WEVAA Research and Development Fellowship and Bursary Programme supported artists/groups to further their practice. WEVAA Fellows received £10,000 to support the development of their work and the visual arts sector. The bursary programme offered artists up to £1000 to support creative practice and create a step change in career development.
